Programme of the Llywelyn Commemoration 2007
Saturday 8th December 2007
10.30 - Patriots from all over Wales and from across Clawdd Offa, meet at the Prince Llywelyn Inn, in Cefn y bedd near Llanfair ym Muellt [SO 003514]. From the Prince Llywelyn Inn, the pilgrims drive in convoy, seven miles around the country lanes of north Breconshire [Buellt] to the little church of Llanynys [SN 998508]. The church of Llanynys stands in the fields on the south side of the river Irfon only half mile south of the spot where LLywelyn was killed at Cefn y bedd.
11.15 - The congregation arrive at the gas-lit church to hear the Mass a commemoration of the Mass heard by LLywelyn on the day he was killed. The service and ceremony is annually taken by the Reverend Nigel Hall, vicar of Llanfair and Llanynys. The theme this year is the afermath of 11th December 1282 - “The ten ‘lost’ months of Welsh History” [Maud].
12.30 - Arrive at the Prince Llywelyn for lunch.
14.30 - Procession forms up and lead by the Cambria drum Band marches from the Prince Llywelyn to the Llywelyn Monument. The ceremony, includes patriotic speeches from eminent members of Welsh society, a guard of honour by young people who represent the ‘18′ - Llywelyn’s household Guard, poetry and patriotic songs.
15.45 - The ceremony is followed by a pilgrimage to Llywelyn’s Well, for those who wish to - to make a pledge of their elegance to the future of our country.

19.30 - Cilmeri - Llanganten Church Hall
Folk and musical Entertainment provided by groups from Cardiff.

10.30 - Patriots reassembled on the roadside next to Parc - the Builth Golf House [SO 031513] for a ceremony to commemorate the 3,000 Welsh troops - ‘The flower of the Welsh Army’ as Roger le Strange described them to Edward I, who were killed, there - where they stood.
11.30 - Those who wish, travel down the Wye Valley to Aberedwy to visit Llywelyn’s Castle [SO 079473] near the church to remember events there in 1282.
13.00 - Service of Commemoration in the ruins of the Cistercian abbey of Cwm Hir [SO 055711] for Llywelyn and all Welsh patriots down the ages. The service in 2007 will be taken by the Reverend Patrick Thomas. The theme will be the Llywelyn’s view of his patriotic duty responsibility as ruler of his nation.
Lunch is served in the Philips Hall [SO 053712] in the village of Abaty Cwm Hir
14.00 - The Abbey Cwm Hir Trust annual lecture this year will also be given by the Reverend Patrick Thomas entitled “The British Church”
15.00 - The annual General Meeting of the Abbey Cwm Hir Trust is held straight after the Annual Lecture each year and is open to all those present.
